Brenda Seals

When you think of the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown one of the first people that usually comes to mind is Brenda Seals. For over thirty-eight years she has dedicated her life to helping thousands of deserving Club members realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.
Without a doubt, her contributions have been extraordinary and far-reaching. Her contributions began in the late 1970’s when she began volunteering at the Club conducting art and craft classes, assisting with fundraisers and helping establish the Club’s Boys & Girls Club Singers program. After serving over eleven years as a volunteer, Brenda was hired as the Cultural Arts Director in 1989 and later the Cultural and Teen Director in 1994 and served in that position through 2016.
In those 27 years with the Morristown organization, some of Brenda’s greatest memories and accomplishments have been seeing her performing arts students perform at nineteen BGCA State, Regional and National Conferences. Brenda developed a national award-winning art program in partnership with a local arts council with over a dozen BGCA’s national art winners. She also established the Bag-A-Job program with Food City where over 100 teens gained employment. Brenda served as a Leadership Delegate at two BGCA International Youth Keystone Conferences in Australia and Scotland, served as a Youth Leader for BGCA’s Keystone International Exchange program in Germany, was Co-Chair for the National Keystone Conference in Nashville. With her leadership the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown has hosted the Southeast Regional Art Exhibit, conducted art training sessions at two National Conferences, served as she served as the local Keystone Club advisor for over twenty years. Brenda has also worked closely with eight State Youths of the Years with two of them becoming Southeast Regional winners and one National Youth of the Year along with one National Youth of the Year runner up.
In addition, Brenda has been instrumental in developing and implementing over ten award winning programs locally including: the Boys & Girls Club Singers, one of the original TEENSupreme Center pilot sites, Young Men of Distinction, Young Women of Distinction, Food City Bag-A-Job, Girls to Women and the TEENSupreme Center Gospel Singing just to name a few.
Brenda has received numerous awards and honors for her life of service including receiving the Presidential Call to Service Award (signed by George W. Bush) and given by BGCA President Roxanne Spillett. Brenda, along with her husband Bill received the Boys & Girls Club Foundation of Morristown’s Lifetime Achievement Award for service to youth in Morristown and has been honored twice as an Outstanding Full-Time Youth Development Professionals at the Tennessee All Staff Retreat. Brenda has always been a champion for youth. Her passion to serve our deserving members is second to none and never wavered. Her legacy is far reaching and it is immeasurable.
Brenda and her husband Bill have been married for fifty-one years and they have two children Chad (Amy) Seals and John (Marla) Seals and six grandchildren (Caleb, Haylea, Jeremiah, Emma, Hannah and Maggie).
